About Community Medicine
The department of Community Medicine is established in the year 2013 and is being developed as per the norms of MCI. The department is located in the 3rd floor of the college building and has provisions for accommodation for Professor & HOD, 3 Associate Professors, 5 Assistant Professors (including Epidemiologist and Statistician), Tutors, Paramedical Staff , Office and Office Staff as per the stipulations laid down by the MCI. The department has got a well furnished library with books more than 100 titles. There is a well-equipped Research Laboratory and is used for faculty and students research work. The museum of the department consists of 100 models, 100 charts and equipment of Public Health Importance as per the norms.
4 PHCs are attached to the department for the field practicing and demonstration of medical students which include
1. Rural Health Training Centre in Pyalakurthy.2. Urban Health Training Centre in weaker Section Colony, Kurnool.
3. 1 PHC at Kodumuru
4. 1 PHC at Guduru.
Each unit serves the population of more than 25,000. Various Health Activities like MCH (including UIP) Activities, Prevention and Control of Communicable Diseases, National Health Programmes and Health Programmes of Regional Importance are being conducted.
